Greetings,

I'm working on my friend's Dell XP 5.1 SP2 and when I boot the machine, a Firefox window with AOL AIM and her buddy list load. How can I get the system to

A) not load the AIM stuff

B) open to the desktop.

Which generally is <and I do feel like a dunce here, but no question is a stupid question, right?> How do I get to the "automatically turn on when booting" list?

Thanks,
Chris

Go to your start bar and click on run. A little box will open up, type in "msconfig" and a box should pop up the far right tab should be the start up programs

Thanks BH13,

I got rid of the AOL stuff. Here's a related question.

When I get to msconfig and view the start up program tab, I see a ccApp that shows an unknown source (I'm pretty sure it is related to Norton/Symantec); can I delet that as well? I ask because when I turn off/restart, I get a closing ccApp window and, after I deleted the AOL stuff, I next got <a new> similar message called NMaIN.

Grateful for any help and trying not to screw up my friend's machine,
Chris
