Hi Friends,

I want to change a existing VG name to a new one.Is there a way to do that?pls help

vila

Sure there is. Unmount all filesystems in the vg, then run an exportvg on that volume group, then run an importvg -y NewVGName hdiskXX to bring the configuration in under the new name. Then you can mount all your FS's back.

Thanks a bunch.Similarly,is there a way to change LV name(not Mountpoint name)

Thanks

vila

Yes vila .. it's simple smitty chlv ..select Rename logical volume
Current lv_name ....
New lv_name ....

Cheers !

or in a script:

chlv -n newname oldname

but you can find that out by running it in smit and then tail -4 /smit.script

chlv -n NewLogicalVolume LogicalVolume
you need to umount filesystem on that particular lv.

Good luck...
