Hi All,
My data grid display a 50 column.I want to give a option to a user to change the order of column as per his requirement.

Current implimentation(dot net 1.1) is using Static Bound Columns with AutoGenrateColumns = False

Is any good way of implimenting this feature with less impacat on existing application

Thanks & Regards

For a solution with the least impact on your existing code, why not try a javascript drag/drop based solution. This could be as simple in terms of impact as adding a reference to a new javascript file.

Yes,your suggestion is good.
Do you have a sample code snipet for this drag drop implimentation

Might want to bear in mind that if you provide this feature your users will almost certainly want to be able to persists the order they've chosen across multiple sessions.

Form my own experience I have approx 30 grids in one application that uses the Janus web grid control which supports this feature out of the box, but now our users are starting to ask for the ability to save their layout so I may have to go back and start storing this ordinal positions of the columns against the user.
