Does anyone know how to move the order of columns in a pivot table?

For instance, my pivot table may pull back days of the week in this order

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, etc

but

I would like to put the columns in a more logical order.

Thanks in advance

Hi - just drag and drop the fields - or right click on the field, select options then change the sort order

Sometimes people will not be consistent with the way they express a calander list....

such as,

Jan Feb Mar Apr June July Aug ....

in this example June and July are not abbreviated, and will confuse the pivot sort routine.

check for that type of thing in your list.

Drag on drop doesnt appear to be working

I dont see any sort options

Also all of the days are formated in 3 letter abreviations

Mon, Tue, Wed, etc

How are you trying to drag and drop?

I wouldn't think that it wasn't working.

You click on say, the cell with Tue in it, to make it the active cell, then point the mouse at the side of the cell until it changes to a pointer, click and hold the mouse button down, and move the mouse which should pull the entire column of data with it.

to drag and drop, 1st select a header cell (eg Tue / Wed etc)Hover the mouse over the edge of the cell until it turns into an arrow. Then, hold the left mouse button down and move the mouse to the right or left. You should see an "I Bar" shape that indicates where you are moving the field to. Let go of the mouse to drop

To do a sort, right click on one of your day headings and select "field" from the menu. click on "Advanced" and you will see a sort option. Click ascending and make sure the dropdown box shows the title of your "Day" field
