Hello all,

I've recently come back from a business trip to Holland (and sadly, it was just business), during which I managed to acquire a copy of MS Office 2003, for a price which I though was quite reasonable - I've now got home, installed it, and marvelled at the wonderfully foregin language that adorns it so... The lovely Dutch man that sold it me insisted that it was in English too...

And I can't seem to find out how to change the settings so I can understand the menu/help guides/anything!

I thought it would ask me a question about installation language during installation, but I failed to notice anything there...

Is there a simple option I'm missing? Or have I been well and truly done?

My O/S is XP Home, if that helps

Cheers

Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Tools, Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings Wizard. Select English (UK) and remove Dutch.

Thanks for the reply

However, I don't have Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings Wizard, in fact my Office Tools folder goes straight into Resource Kit - and then lists my options.

Run Office Setup again (Add/Remove Programs, select Office 2003, Change) and make sure that you have installed all components: if you chose the default install, all components are not installed.

Well...

I found the program you were referring to, made the changes, and yet am still confronted by Dutch..

This does not bode well.

Very strange. Go to the Control Panel, Regional Settings and make sure that both the Regional Options and Advanced tabs are set correctly to English (United Knigdom).

Yup - the control panel settings are as you say, and the only language I have selected in the Lanaguage settings wizard is English (UK)

Are there not two different things here - the language the product is "in" (i.e. the text of the menu options etc.) and the languages which it "supports" (i.e has dictionaries for, etc.).

I believe you can add additional language support to any version (if you install the components) but I think the installed programs are one language only, so if there is no option at install time you may be stuck. Misschien moet je een beetje Nederlands leren [wink]

Enjoy,
Tony
