I went through the steps of installing a new IOS on my 1721. Changed the baud rate to 115200 as instructed, to use xmodem.

I've tried changing the settings back to 9600 using rom monitor and confreg. But when I reset, it boots using 9600, I can see the boot processes, but then changes to 115200 at the login prompt.

I then go back into rommon and the baud rate is set to 115200. How do I configure it to keep the setting of 9600.

Hi

If you change your pc to run at 115200 I assume you can access the CLI correctly. If so, try to set the speed from there.

You can do it by setting the confreg:

router#conf t
router(config)#config-register 2102

then reload the router, and it should take that (the default) value and give you a console at 9600.

or you can use the speed command:

router#conf t
router(config)#line console 0
router(config-line)#speed 9600

This change is instant, and you will need to reconfigure your hyperterminal to 9600 to continue using the cli.

Hi again

I just tried my original thoughts on a 1750 I have under my desk. The config-register method does not work, even allowing for my mis-spelling of the command (it should be 'config-register 0x2102').

I guess there is an issue with 17xx IOS that does that.

The speed command is correct.
