I need to change all my hubs from the generic Computer symbol to their correct symbols - i.e. connectors.

"ovtopofix -a" ran ok but did not change the symbol types. Without waiting/manually polling all the devices, is there a quick way I can change them in one fell swoop? E.g. following a search, I can select all the desired type and place them on the selected object lists.

NNM v6.41 on WIN2k.

If you have the snmp community names set correctly for the devices, they should change to the correct symbol automatically.

i think this may help.

find the oid of the object(s) you want to change. right-click on one of them, go to Object Properties > IP Map > System Object ID (SNMP). it'll look like "1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.2"

open the file $openview\conf\oid_to_sym

look for that OID. if it exists, change the catagory and the specific icon. if it doesn't exist, just go to the bottom, paste the OID in, and add the catagory and the icon.

for example, if i want to make all Windows NT machines look like Japan

1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.2:Computer:WindowsNT
changes to
1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.2:Location:Japan

kinda sorta get it?
