I have a customer with a 6X16 installed. They were complaining about the flash VM not releasing the lines. I checked and the cabinet is a DS, but the software pack is not. If I change the pack to the DS version, will I have to reprogram it? If so, can I use Norstar Manager to save and reload?

Yes, you'll loose your system settings and have to re-program.

Search the net for "MICS compatibility chart". I found the Manager 3.2 works with MICS 1.0, so I'm going to take a guess and say anything up to MICS 1.0 will work.

The 616 DS cabinet should only work with DS software, unless it's been mislabeled. Do you have the option to change supervision in Config programming? If not, then I think you have a mislabeled non-DS cabinet with standard DR5 software.

My bad! I went to the site today and found that the cabinet is non DS. Someone in an earlier post indicated the labeling would be in teal if DS. I assumed the teal Nortel logo meant that. Not!! Anyway, I tested my DS cabinet in the office with a flash and it still holds the line tied up for around a minute after hangup. This is even with supervision enabled. Telco does that good at my customer site with non DS. I will leave it!
