Hi all, hope you can help, i will make this as detailed and simple as possible....

I have two exchange servers -
SRV1 (172.27.1.19) and SRV2 (172.27.6.7)

SRV1 dies in a fire and I need to have it running on the other srver (SRV2 - 172.27.6.7) asap.

How do I go about doing this?

Details would help....thankyou anybody...

If you can let me know how my WINS works in the same situation I would also be greatful ;)

I hope you are creating a disaster recovery plan! And it's a simulation. The answer to your question depends a lot on the type of backup you're using (If you have one)

Are you using online or offline backup
Are you using FULL or Incremental backup

If you have the time look on technet and search for Exchange and disaster recovery. There are 2 documents (PART1 & PART2) on disaster recovery. They contain all you need to know.

One good advice. If you start a disaster recovery, make a backup of your server first. In many cases you make a mistake and make the disaster worse. If you have an image of the server you can try as much as you want.

Kind Regards,

David

Yes, lucky for me it is a DRP drill, and the server is a test server.

We are using full daily backups.
