Hi

I am developing a system and using Crystal 8.5 with VB 6. I connect my report to the SQL Server database by selecting a datalink file from the explorer style box presented.

My problem is that when I develop using a test server and then need to point these reports to the production machine for compiling. I can only get the report to prompt me for the data link properties again by stopping the SQL service on the test machine.

Can I not in code specify which servername or database name to connect to ?

Regards

one tip, your database name in cr 8.5 can be changed from say <servername>.dbo.<tablename>, to just <tablename>, this will allow connection to database no matter which server is being used.

thanks Mikalm,

I will spend a bit more time trying to get this to work.
