Hello,
Has anybody ran into issues trying to change the screensaver on the 9608? I have done it with no problems on the 9630G, but am having quite a time with the 9608. I cannot get the 9608 to even grab my 46xxxsettings.txt file (which I edited with the screensaver info). I have tried clearing the phone (mute+CRAFT), and then manually putting in the HTTP server address in the phone, but it seems it still will not grab my 46xxxsettings. I have also tried putting the 46xxxsettings.txt on the memory card (embedded file management), still no luck. The file the phone keeps looking for at boot is the 96x1Hupgrade. Any suggestions?

That's ok that it's looking for that file, but you're right in that you should be getting the 46xxsettings as well. The 96x1Hupgrade file should show this relevant part which sends the phone off to the 46xxsettings.txt

A default 96x1Hupgrade.txt will send to:

$MODEL4 SEQ 9608 GOTO 9608SWIF

# 9608SW
SET RFSNAME S96x1_UKR_V13r50_V13r50.tar
SET APPNAME S9608_11HALBR6_2_2_09U_V452.tar
GOTO GETSET

# GETSET
GET 46xxsettings.txt
See if your text file shows this data within the file.

Also set this at the top of your 46xxsettings.txt:
SET SCREENSAVERON 20
SET SCREENSAVER yourscreensaver.jpg
SET BAKLIGHTOFF 20
SET PROCPSWD 27238

Keep the screensaver small under 10kb if possible.

The 9608 will for sure grab a 46xxsettings.txt.
Do you have enough patience?
Be sure that the screensaver is very small as the resolution is not that great.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I have had plenty of patience with this... Letting it go through its boot sequence multiple times. My default 96x1Hupgrade.txt does correctly point to the 46xxxsettings.txt file - but the phone will never try to grab it. It will just continue on to "waiting for LLDP". I am not handing DHCP through the IPO, so I have to manually type in my Call server address, or it will continue in a loop with "waiting for LLDP".

My logo.jpg file is 263 x 66, and is 6.52kb.

Also my 46xxxsettings.txt file this is what i have :
##
SET SCREENSAVERON 2
##
## The automatic default for Release 6 - applicable to 9600 phones
## This can be modified to add your companies own screen saver
##
SET SCREENSAVER logo.jpg
##
################ A(Avaya) Menu Settings #################
##

I have been battling with changing the 9608 screen savers as well.

So far I have not even been able to change the duration of either the screensaver or the back light. None of the examples I have found for 46xxsettings.txt and 96x1Hupgrade.txt help... I can't even tell the phone is actually retrieving the files. I have pulled the cable to reset the phone. Done a CRAFT reset, etc. nothing.

Am I perhaps missing a step?

N.
