I have a merlin 2 release 3 with a 012 module for analog ports. The book says that I have to asign the outside lines to the analog port if I want to be able to transfer calls to this port. ok, I did this, but now all the incoming calls ring to this analog port. My question is how the heck do you set the ring options to delayed ring or no ring on this analog port. just to keep straight, my use of analog ports refers to single line phones. thank you all in advance for any help, you all have been great help in the past, thank you.

Hi Technicaluser;
Go into centralized programming (system,exit,more,cntl-prgm,prgm ext) to program that analog extension. Even though analog extensions don't have any programmable buttons in the Legend, you will find that probably the third button up will be your line(s) appearance. It will look like "801-I" or something similar. The "I" refers to immediate ring. You want to change that to a no ring. Do this by pressing F10 for list features. Press more until you see ring options. Select ring options, all lines, and then no ring. This turns the line ringing off on that particular extension. The bad news is you will have to do this for each analog extension you have. But when you're done, you won't have those puppies ringing. Hope this helps.

Thank you dfwtelecom for your quick response. I noticed you are refering to the legend, my question involves the Merlin II. So you can see where I don't have the option of an f10 to push to change the ringing option. so could you please explain how it is done with the Merlin II or how your instructions can translate to the merlin II. In the mean time I'll double check my stuff to see if I can find what you are refering to. thanks again dfwtelecom for your help.

Hi everyone. I just want to say I figured it out, thanks to some guidance from dfwtelecom. you go to the console and get to programming mode and select cntl-prgm, ext, select the ext. you want, then all the lines assigned light up. at this point you select the line by pressing its button and dial *35 to ring, *36 to delay ring, *37 for no ring. then you select the next line and so on. gee is it just me or are these manuals just clear as mud. these codes were in the manual but not exactly how to use them correctly.

I am pretty sure that if you wanted to send a call to the analog and have it ring it should, I know there is a problem with the way it rings, usually you just program it as a fax extension to make it ring correctly., or I could be off track here. 4am zzzzzzzzz.......
