Am changing PRI carriers for the 1st time and find myself in strange territory. But this is just another grand learning opportuunity to me...
Engineer for (new) carrier has asked me if I want:
Protocol: Ni2 or Custom 5ESS?
I'm sure that I'm Ni1 at present as Protocol version is set at "a" in my "display DS1 1a15" What to do here?

Quantity of digits to receive from carrier? 4/7/10??
I have not found this/don't know where to look in my switch to find what I currently receive...
Anyone knowing what to select and where to/what to change the settings in the switch to is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Nick

On the DS1 form, protocol "a" is 5ESS and "b" is NI1 (should also work with NI2). I would go with NI2 here.

As for the quantity of digits, this should match your extension length. If you extensions are 4-digits then ask the vendor to delivery 4-digits. This way you do not have to put any conversion tables in.

Normally, the only time that you would want to see 7 or 10 digits is if you are tandeming to another PBX and need to see the whole number for proper routing.

I hope this helps.
