Hi Guys,

On my backup network, I have one Master server with 5 clients. All windows servers are running Windows 2000 server and 2 linux boxes.

I have gotten 2 new client licenses for 2 new servers. Now I want to move my current Master server to one of the new servers and make all the current clients point to the server.

How can I achieve this? If I install and configure the new master server and edit the "SERVER = " in bp.conf file on all clients, will be ok for the configuration?

Please help!!!!!

Do you need to change the name of the Master? We migrated the master to new hardware some time ago. We just did our build, installed Netbackup, left services off and copied over the live install directory of Netbackup. The install wrote all the other stuff, registry, dll, etc. Believe it or not, this actually worked for us for the most part. I don't remember of any issue doing this.

xxx01,

Yea. The new master server comes with a new name. The old master server will be down-graded to as a client to the new master server.

We moved NBU from one masterserver to another one with a new name.
As such this is not supported, but your local Veritas consultant should be able to do this (or know someone who can). There is a procedure on how to do this, but except if you realy realy realy know what you are doing, pay Veritas to do it for you. That is what I did.

We used 2 days for it in our installation, but we have around 75 clients. The second was mostly just testing and testing and more testing.
We also did an upgrade from 4.5 to 5.1 at the same time.
