Hello all. We have two locations that have a fractional T1 between them with Passport 2430s at each end. We just went through a public to private IP change and need to change the routers.

The previous 'show ip enabled' showed E11 and S11 with the same public IP address (198.xxx.xxx.98) and mask (but, of course, different MAC addresses). The other end was configured the same way with E11 and S11 showing 198.xxx.xxx.99.

I was able to delete E11 and recreate it with the new 10.x.x.251 address. But after deleting serial/1/1, I could not apply the same IP to the serial/standard interface. I received the address duplication error. Creating the serial/standard entry first with the new IP address and then trying to add the ethernet interface again produces the duplicate address message.

How do I go about getting the new IP into both the E11 and S11 interfaces to get this link working again?

Thanks, in adavance, for any help.

I work in the same area as snemes and the problem has been solved. The primary problem was that IP Forwarding was enabled and that was causing a problem assigning the same IP to the serial and ethernet addresses.

Thanks.
