Changing Internal Dialing Pattern CME 4.0

Hello Everyone,

I am fairly new working with VOIP.

Question: We currently have to dial seven digits to reach other phones on our network. I want to be able to just dial the last four of the telephone number. If the number is XXX-3520, I need to dial 3520 to reach that phone. How can this be done?

post a config of your CME....

Normally you would set the the Ephone Dn to four digits, example 3500. Then apply it to your ephone.

In telephony service insert (transfer-pattern .T)

Also, check your dial-peers they may need to be reconfigured...

Thanks. Is there a way to configure the CM to except both 4 and 7-digit dialing with having to add a extension on the phone. Our CM can currently except 10 and 7-digit dialing. I am not really familar with dial peers. Could you further explain.

First we need to now how your recieving your incoming calls?

Do you have a PRI or are you using FXO ports...

Can you insert a brief topolgy showing your network?

Depending on your actaul needs we can possible insert digit manipulation in the router....

I have a PRI (29 numbers) connected to a 3845 router. We are using MGCP for the gateway control. Most of our changes are made through the call manager. The router connects to our POE switch which is the link to our phones. I don't want to change any of our dial plans, just add 4-digit dialing. I've been playing around with the num-exp command, but no luck.
