Hi

I need to change a hostname on CMS Server version 11. Can anyone provide a link or tell me the commands. Am ok with changing the the host details on the switch which is a definity V10 but need some guiders on the changes I need to make in Unix.

Thanks in adavnce

Jonathan

gz01gs,

do you really need to change host _names_? ordinarily you may need to change host ip addresses. nevertheless, the both tasks are done editing /etc/hosts file. use vi, it's adequate enough.

no I meant IP addresses

I have found some notes that I did beofre:

vi /etc/hosts

Thanks for the reply anyway

gz01gs,

don't forget to reboot your sun box after doing this. after it boots up, try to ping the new addresses to make sure everything works fine.

One thing that may be worth checking is run cmssvc and check the switch setup...i had someone set up a switch of ours using ip instead of host name so when i changed the hosts file nothing happened as there was no lookup to resolve.
