Hi juggers,

Don't know exactly what you did, but ..

Find an empty cell somewhere and enter -1 in it.
Copy the cell
Select your numbers
Edit > Paste Special > Multiply
Press Enter
Delete the -1 from your helper cell.

Enjoy,
Tony

You can't make a formula to do a calculation on data in its own cell, if thats what you're trying to do . . .

When you write the formula, you trash the data you're trying to work on. Simply can't do it.

You can, as TonyJollans said, temporarily use another column - you could also just put in column b =-a1, where column a is the original data, copy it down, hilite and copy, paste special, values, into column a. Then delete column B.
