Howdy all,

Need to pick some Guru's brains here.

I will be reformatting my server and starting fresh with it. Right now I had the error of calling my network domain the same as a website domain - and as they are on the same box - you can see how AD add's it's dns enteries onto the websites domain dns.

So I will be changing the network domains name from say mydomain.com to myserver.com.

This is all good and all, but i'm worried about user profiles that are stored locally on their workstations.

If I have the new myserver.com have a netbios name of mydomain will it locate the existing profiles - or will I still need to copy over the profiles?

Does anybody have a tried and true this-is-the-fastest-i-found method to copying the profiles without needing to reinstall a buncha software like Outlook?

Many thanks
Stuart

why are you changing domain names again?

I have the same domain name as my web domain, i have no problems...please expound more

Well mostly because my server is behind a firewall as is the dns server (I also have 2 external DNS) on occasion the A record will pop up as 192.168.x.x for web requests.

On the other side, I would prefer to keep things much neater - have the network domain dns be internal, and separate from dns for website domains.
