Hello,
I have just switched a Winnt 4.0 server to a Win2000 DC with DHCP! I had DHCP 30 clients that had leases for 10 days and had 5 left. When I changed servers I had to go each PC and do a ipconfig /release|renew in order to have them get an address from the new server. I have to make another switch with a server that services over 300 clients. What is the best way to make the transition without visiting over 300 workstations. I know this is short notice but we are looking to do it this weekend, if anyone out there has any ideas.

Thanks,

TerrenceB

change the lease duration to something like 10 minutes (or whatever you feel is appropriate) just prior to switching over. This will force all the workstations to send out a broadcast for a renewal, which will eventually be answered by the new server.

Hello,
Forgot to add the clients are a mix between, Win 9X,2000 and XP.

Cheers,

TerrenceB
