Changing Computer Description???

Hi guys,

I need to alter the computer description field of all of the PC's I look after, they have all been named using the same format, therefore, I do not know which PC belongs to which department, i.e WORKST1234, WORKST1344, etc, I figured by changing the computer description I can manage things better, id there anyway that you can think of to help out?? I could do it via login scripts, based on security group membership, but with people who do not use the same PC everyday it is going to cause discrepancies?

If you are on an XP PC with the administration tools installed, you can do it remotely. Click Start/Administration Tools/Computer management.

When the program comes up, click on Actions on top, and choose Connect to another Computer. It will prompt you for the computer name. Type it in like this: \\computer_name

From here, click on Actions, then choose properties. Click the Computer Name tab, and you can change the description there.
