Hi, i've used Photoshop and Premiere a lot but i've just downloaded the trial version of after effects to try and save some time with an urgent project. I'm trying to change the colour of someones jacket in a 30 second clip and track the change throughout the clip. I've managed to figure out the masks and i think i've figured out how to track motion but at the minute i can't figure out how to link the two together!
I started the project by converting the clip into individual frames and changing the colour of each one in Photoshop! If anyone can save me from this nightmare i will be eternally grateful.

Does the guy's jacket have a distinct colour in the original footage?

Because you could adjust this unique colour to what ever you want.

Using masks over 30 seconds, 25frames/sec, will be a nightmare, unless you can soft edge an approximate area.

Thanks a lot for your reply Hetzen,

Unfortunately the jacket isn't distinctive (black and it's similar to aspects of the background) and i'm trying to change it to a distinct colour. If the masks will be a nightmare over 30 seconds i'll maybe stick to the equally nightmarish Photoshop option!

The good thing about Afx, is that when you draw a mask, you can animate it every say 5 frames, moving the nodes, cutting your work down in photoshop by 5. So Afx is the way to go, it's just rather you than me

Thanks. I'll try the masks in after effects as it's taking forever and a day in Photoshop!
