Everyone - hope you can help.
I have a T1 from QWEST they told me I had to replace because it was on an old billing system. Now I have the new T1 in, and it was supposed to be configured on QWESTs end exactly as my old T1. I thought I could just unplug from the old T1 @ the demarc and plug into the new T1. The card/trunk looks like it is in service, but the QWEST tech said I had my b channels down. I haven't a clue what to do - everything should be the same - signalling group, protocol, etc. But I can't process calls on the new T1. I had to plug back in to the old T1 to restore any service. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but since I don't switch T1s on a regular basis I don't know what I'm missing. Thanks in advance.

I had to go through this a few months ago. I bought a new tn464 to get the new trunks up to make sure they were working before going to them. But downtime is not a option where i work..

In your case you may have to busy and release the signaling group to make the members become active. Thats where I would start. Status the signaling group and make sure it is in-service. Then status and test the trunk group to make sure they are up and in-service. If not then look at the test results and error codes. Run test from there to pinpoint the problems.

But remember. If the signaling group is not up you are not going to get the b channels. So that needs to be happy first of all. Then the b's will come up.

When is the last time you helped someone, just because you were able to?

hmmm. the signalling group was in service, but I will try to busy and release it when I connect it to the new t1. thank you and i'll reply tomorrow am - can't do anything during production hours!

You may want to try connecting to the new circuit and unplug the DS-1 board, wait 10 seconds, and reseat the DS-1 board. That way you flush any information that may have been heald on the board.

After you connect and reseat the board you may want to put a trace up on your station and place an outbound call over that trunk group. Look for any Denial Events. Sometimes they will identify the problem.

what does it show for those particular trunk ports when you 'status trunk (x)'?

the stat tr command showed the TG inservice/idle. It looked good, but I got ISDN 1165 denial when I called out. I think it had to do with the signalling group, but again, all i did was unplug from one rj45 to another on the demarc. it should have been transparent. I didn't have to do anything with the sig group when i went back to the first t1. it just came up right away.
