Changing an Item's Unit of Measure

Hi everyone,

I have an Item that I have to change its unit of measure from "each" to "meter". My problem is that there is still quantity on hand in the stores for this item and it has been used in purchase orders with this old unit of measure. What is the best possible way of acheiving my goal under these circumstances?

What version of Accpac are you using?

Note that if you change your unit of measure, your quantities will not be converted to the new unit of measure.
So 10 each will become 10 meter.

I'm running 5.3A
I'm well aware that the unit of measure of the items on hand wont change to the new unit of measure. How then can I achieve ma goal?

My recommendation would be to create a new item number. If you can't do that then you should be able to create a new UOM for that item, set the current stocking unit of measure to 'No' and the new UOM to 'Yes'. Then change the UOM in your price lists (at a minimum).

I second DjangMan's method. And if you have any stock on hand, just do two adjustment transactions to move it from each to meter.
