My company is at full capacity on our phone system, all of our TN's are filled with people's phones. However, there are 2 rows (15 TN's each) of TN's used for our 500 lines, of which only 6 are in use for speakerphones, and fax lines. Is there away to change the 1 unused row of TN's from the 500's to be used as 2008/2616 TN's?

I tried to do an OUT of the 500 lines, and then copy one exisiting 2008 TN to the 500 TN i had removed but it didn't take. Is there a simple way of doing what I'd like to do? Or would this be someing i'd have to call a Nortel phone pro for?

The Fax and Polycom are Analog. 2008 and 2616's are digital. You cannot program a digital phone to an Analog TN.

You can try to talk some people into using the old ma bell style phones. Just tell them its the latest thing

Of your two "rows" of 500 sets, are they all on one row? If they are, you can remove that analog card in the PBX (look at the TN: loop-shelf-CARD-unit; you need to replace the CARD but need to know where it is physically) and replace it with a digital line card. If they are on both "rows," then you need to move (either the move or the copy command) them all to 1 card, then replace the unused analog as mentioned. That will also entail moving crossconnects on your frame. Are you on release 3.0? If so, then you have specific licenses for analog vs. digital sets, and you may be restricted there.

you need to build the 1st set on the new card as a digital set, just use all the defaults.. then copy a set to where you want it.. fro some reason when you copy the 1st set on a new card you can run into trouble.. out the default after you get sest working
