Within the last week, our 2 emailing applications on one of our server (Crystal and CRM) are no longer able to email. These use SMTP ports. I first tried adding the exes to the exclusion list, which fixed the problem, but minutes later, the problem was back. I opened the properties on the access protection and the exe was removed from the exclusion list.

So, I then diabled the access protecion completely. The applications were able to email, but again, minutes later, the access protection was re-enabled somehow.

I am logged into the server as administrator. Is there something that is reverting these changes?

Do you use ePO? ePO server will overwrite any client exclusions or settings.

you can check if you run an ePO agent by starting running: "%programfilesdir%/mcafee/common framework/cmdagent.exe" /s

Contact your ePO Administrator in that case to ensure that the required settings are set via ePO Policy to enforce on your email servers

No, we do not have an ePO server. We still haven't been able to email out of CRM this week and it's getting urgent. Other than uninstalling McAfee completely, I'm not sure what to do.

Unknown to me, I found out that our IT dept has implemented an ePO server, but the server affected doesn't seem to have the agent. Is it a new service that runs? Does it have any performance hits?

ePOAgent is part of the CMA (Common Framework) it controls the communication with the ePO Server (settings and task enforcement on your client) and the productupdates.

So it is no new service or decreases systems performance.
To me it seems that only an ePO Server can enforce the behaviour you are having.

Please check if there is no agent installed on your server or that they didn't configure policies for that server(if there are no policies configured McAfee defaults are enforced by ePO)
