Dear All,
Software VER.
System platform: 6.3.7.0.05001
Templates: cm Duplex 6.3.0.141.0
,
Changed IP address of Avaya CM Duplex 6.3, After this Cdom come up but CM Template was showing time out status, I reload system Platform and Template, after this when I tried to load Lic. File by WebLM it’s give this ERR.(License file is invalid or not created for this Server. License file was not installed.) Even I download Lic. File from Avaya PLDS, but file was same as old one but same Err.I checked MAC. Address are same of both servers. Old software file was not sure it was 6.3 but patch ver. Is not which I installed, pls Help how can I load the Lice. Did I missed something? Pls Help.
I follow this procedure Changed IP address,
1. log into "System Platform", using the existing IP address
2. click on "Server Management", then "Network Configuration" (wait a while now)
3. you now have access to the fields that need to change:
General Network Settings: Default Gateway
under "Domain Network Interface":
Domain-0 (avpublic eth1.1)
Console Domain (avpublic eth0)
under "Template Network Configuration", "Global Template Network Configuration":
CM IPv4 Address
Utility Server IPv4 Address
type in your new IP's to these fields, you only get 1 shot at getting this correct. Then click on "save"

Couple of things. First, CM Duplex doesn't have a utility server in the template, so I'd think you mistakenly installed a simplex template when you reinstalled it. That would explain why CM didn't like the license even if your host ID was right. The license is for a certain platform type - where duplex and simplex are different.

There's a part in PLDS where you can specify a second host id for duplicated servers, so your 1 license should be good for both MACs of both servers if either is running CM duplex. Each license is hosted in a weblm local to the cdom running that 1 CM server - so normally, either server should be able to license the whole thing if only one is online.

I'm not sure why dom0 would have an eth1.1 subinterface instead of just being on eth1 - but that could be a problem.
As to why your template didn't start up and timed out, I have no idea. Maybe you messed with avprivate as well - that's a private network on system platform it controls all the virtual machines from. I'd say that because of it being unable to run scripts over that avprivate network that could maybe be the reason why it said the virtual machine's state timed out on you.

Also, the patch version of CM most certainly matters as only certain ones are tested against certain System Platform loads - so, 6.3.7 platform which is relatively recent VS 6.3.0 CM fresh template install which is rather old might need some patching to behave normally - it shouldn't, but for where you're stuck right now, overlook nothing!
Basically, patch CM to 6.3.11 or higher to play nice with 6.3.7 platform -
Basically, check your template and make sure you installed duplex - that's under an hour if you're already this far. You're lucky I was bored and had nothing going on right now to bother answering you :)

Are you stuck having blown away a big duplex system on Christmas day? Or was this a duplex ESS? :p

*and, if you enable IP forwarding in System Platform, then on the services port 192.11.13.6 you should be able to get to the system platform cdom webpage at regardless of whether you put in incorrect IPs when readdressing.

Thanks kyle555,
you give me time in holidays,
yes I am sure that I installed Duplex Template,
System platform: 6.3.7.0.05001
Templates: cm Duplex 6.3.0.141.0
this info. I got from Cdom, unfortunately I failed to attach my screen shot, I did not join CM yet, do I need to join my CM to load Lic?

Yes. In CM's webpage you point to the license server.

It can be CDOM or something more central an that's why you have to make sure it's there.

Dear,
I spent all the day at the site but result is same, failed to load License,
What I tried,
1. I completed the CM duplication, got status cmA active cmB standby, then tried to load lic. By weblm but same Err. .(License file is invalid or not created for this Server. License file was not installed.)
2. I tried to reload Duplex Template + patch then lic. But same Err.
3. Last I tried to Reload sys platform+ Duplex Template + patch then lic. But same Err.

Help me pls,
Pls confirm that do I need to regenerate the lic. From PLDS?
All the time server properties MAC. Add. Is same.
My hardware type HPDL360G8.

open the license file in notepad, look for the host id in there. in weblm "server properties" should be the same mac. Shouldn't need a new license if you're keeping it on the same server unless perhaps it was originally licensed to the virtual mac created on your last install - but making sure one of the macs in server properties matches the host id in your license should be good enough.

You don't need a new license if whoever installed it initially did it right!

Thanks Dear,
Doing great for me, yes I found difference here when I open in notepad,

I have server properties from weblm, only MAC ID, there is nothing like Available
Primary Host ID: 2x-xx-Fx-8x-xx-xx
(only single line nothing else)
But in Lic. File there is nothing as MAC add. There is Host ID: <HostID>00xx3xx5xxAx</HostID> (different then my MAC.)

Pls tell me what to do?

Look thru everything in WebLM - it might be a 2ndary mac that's in your license. Or, do you have system manager? It has a WebLM too. Maybe your cm was pointed there all along?

Otherwise, you or a partner or avaya need to swap that in plds

Dear there is no SMGR at the site, only 2 CM, in old file rec. there was MAC. info as following.

Server Host ID

Primary Host ID:2C-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx
Available: 00-xx-xx-xx-xx-Ax----(this is my host ID in Lic. file)
00- xx-xx-xx-xx-c1
The Primary Host ID is the MAC Address of the first network interface of the physical system. All other available MAC Addresses are listed as Available Host IDs.

After reload the system I am getting as following.
Primary Host ID:2C-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx

how is come?
pls guide.

Thanks kyle555

I rehost Lic. file to MAC ID: I will try,
hope it will work now b/c in notepad host id ok as I was looking, thanks again.

Or, login as root to dom0 of both machines, do ifconfig - see if the mac in the hostid of your license really lives on that server.

Maybe it used to be setup with eth0 and eth1 on a bonded interface for the corp lan and eth0 was the mac that showed up.
And maybe you reinstalled only using eth1 so only that mac shows now. It's a guess

But do ifconfig as root in dom0 of both and maybe ask your lan guy "what port is mac xx:xx:xx i have in my license file plugged into?"

Or, rehost on plds :)

My bad if I missed this in a previous post but did you check the server role? is it setup right?
