I am wanting to change the window size of a report. It automatically opens to fit to window. I have found some code on the forum to change to 100% zoom and I have tried docmd.maximise. That it not exactly what is wanted. I need it to be the 100% which is good but I want the window to just be the size of the report not the full size of the screen.

The reason for this is that there are complaints that users click the close box on the main screen instead of the report screen closing the whole database. Alternatively is there is a way of taking the close box off the main database screen.

Thanks

You can look up information on creating toolbars.

You can create a stripped down version of a toolbar for printing.

Set the toolbar property of the report, create a a function for the reporttoolbar and the "on close event" of the report that opens your standard toolbar and hides the report toolbar.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this. I have been away. I am not sure how your solution is going to help me. My problem is that when the report opens in 100% the window is the same size as in preview so the user has to manually resize the report. Docmd.Maximise causes confusion between the close button on the database and the close button on the report and people are accidentally closing the database instead of the report. I want something in between. A way of opening the report in 100% zoom and having the window the size of the report, not the size of the screen.

I went to the reason for why you wanted to do this. Creating a toolbar will allow you to set up something that your users will understand, and will make it less likely for them to click on the x for the Access shell.

When they open the report, you can have a toolbar appear that has several buttons: zoom, print, print setup, multi page view and close report.

This way, instead of using the x on the top, they'll use the toolbar, because they'll also use it to print, and they'll automatically go back to the toolbar to close it.

Hope that helps. Yes, it's not the way that you wanted, but it's an easy work around for your problem.

Thank you Mark, that is what I ended up doing. I am surprised that there is no easy way to set the size of the report window.

Thanks for your time.

You may think about controlling closing your db. See Control Closing Of Form Or Database faq702-1870
