When changing wallpaper through desktop properties it lists all the default xp wallpapers and all the pictures in the My Pictures folder.

How do I change it so that it only lists the dafault pictures.

See what is on offer with this Group Policy

User Configuration\Desktop\Active Desktop\Active Desktop Wallpaper.

In User Configuration\Control Panel\Display, you can prevent changing of Wallpaper.

How to configure Desktop Themes in Windows XP

This is a relatively new happening because widows only use to display a few default wallpaper files and a single file that you may have selected from the My Pictures folder. Now (mine does) it displays every file in the My Pictures folder. Whether this is by design or a bug I don't know.

Maybe you could backup all the Windows Wallpaper .jpg and .bmp files that you don't want listed, and just delete them or try moving them to another folder besides My Pictures?

Thanks linney,

Looked through yuor suggestions , couldn't find anything that made any change (other than can't change wallpaper at all).

Also tried searching the registry with a fine tooth comb and found nothing that references wallpaper and My Pictures.

I agree with you that this might be a DESIGNED BUG.

Moved all the files out of My Pictures and renamed it My Wallpaper and now things "appear" normal. Not an ideal solution but it works.
