I maintain an AVAYA G3R V11. I use the GEDI for some administrative tasks like change user extensions from one extension to another, and even changing user extensions from 4 digits to 5 digits and vice versa.

I would really like to know if there is a way of changing multiple extensions from one number to another. For example changing all 3XXX extensions to 4XXX extensions OR changing all 5XXX extensions to 35XXX extensions.

So far, I have been doing these changes one by one and it seems that its gonna take a long time.

Can anyone please advise?

there is a program that will do this type of work. it's called Provision. Avaya and its authorized Business Partners use it. good luck finding it.

Provision would be your best bet. If you can't get ahold of it (and I don't think you will be able to; it's used by Avaya and their business partners). You can try the following (assuming that most of your stations have the same button lineup, and are the same station type):

1. Duplicate one station 3XXX station for multiple 4XXX stations. Give all the new 4XXX stations a generic name and X for the port address.

2. Export all 3XXX stations and 4XXX stations.

3. Open the two export files in Excel; copy/paste the port address and name fields from the 3XXX file to the 4XXX file.
Change the port address fields on the 3XXX file to X.

4. Import the 3XXX file as a change, so that all 3XXX stations now have X as their port address.

5. Import the 4XXX file as a change, so that all 4XXX files are now at the port address and have the user name as the previous 3XXX stations.

6. Delete the 3XXX stations.

Better than one at a time, but not as good as Provision.

You can have it all. You just can't have it all at once.
