Change the Automatic name checking

When using the Automatic Name Checking the user needs to type at least 3 characters before the options are displayed.
Anybody know if there is a way to change this to a lower number of characters. My users want to type a character and see everyone that starts with that letter.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have them enter the letter then hit enter to send the mail. It'll bring up the list matching their query.

Thanks, that works if the info is in contacts/global address book. It does not fill in from the Automatic Name Cache, the info in the cache may not be included in the Contacts. Any thoughts.
