Change out Hard Drive on Elite 192

Has anyone cloned and installed a hard drive in their Elite VM? We tried it with a 40gig and all the led lights in the VM board stay lit, it doesn't boot up. The original hd is 5 gigs, 4200rpm, do we have to use the exact same drive or can the VM board bios be updated? I would like to get a backup because the drive is 6 years old and will fail someday.

Yes there is most likely a Bios issue with the new drive.If I am correct you would have to order that drive from NEC because there is a square Bios chip on the motherboard that is matched to the original drive....good luck

Also,It's a good idea to back your data up with the BRU utility....

Can you please tell me where the BRU utility is?

The BRU (backup restore utility) normally comes with the voice-mails original software disk.You may have to contact NEC for a copy..
