Change month-day order in excel 2000

Is there any way to change the month - day order in the cell format of excel 2000? Allthough regional settings and input locales are all set correctly, the proposed formats are always starting with the month instead of the day.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

If I wasn't Blue, I would just be a Dragon...

dd = a 2 digit number representing the day
ddd = a 3 letter text abbreviation for the day
dddd = a complete text word for the day
mm = a 2 digit number representing the month
mmm = a 3 letter text abbreviation for the month
mmmm = a complete text word representing the month
yy = a 2 digit year
yyyy = a 4 digit year

You can have any combination you like, eg:-

mm-dd-yyyy
ddd-mm-yy
mm-ddd-yyyy
mmm/dd/yy
yyy/ddd/mm
mmm-dd-yyyy (ddd)
(ddd) dd-mm-yyyy
mm/dd/yyyy (ddd)
mmddyy

and so on........

Thank you both for your input. Indeed in the custom field I can make a custom entry. Also, the regional settings are dd-MM-yyyy.

But

When I enter a date in excel and choose to format the cell, the only xx-xx-xx format I am offered is the mm-dd-yy format. That is my problem...

Then you need to select Custom from the list and then enter MANUALLY the format that you want. ;-)
