Does anyone know where or what to edit in possibly the registry on an XP PRO O.S. to change the IE to go to another website besides yahoo. I have a company that uses webmail, and they do not want the browser to open Outlook Express or Outlook, they want the mail icon to go directly to the website on the internet (e.g. and since you can choose to set IE to open hotmail for one of the mail programs I am assuming you could choose hotmail at the default mail program then go into the registry somewhere and simply change the actual http:// address to whatever web site you desire? is this possible??? searched reg and didn't see where to do this ?? thanks for any replies..

open your IE browser
go to tools
internet options
and in the general tab you can set your default home page
I might be off track here... but I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for.

No totally off track, I know how to change a homepage. If you go into IE Tool then Options, and go to the programs tab and go to the email drop down box you can choose hotmail. then the MAIL ICON and anytime the user clicks on any email link or the mail icon they are taken to instead of opening up Outlook Express or MS Outlook, as their mail program. I know there has to be a way to edit the registry or some dat file to redirect it to any website (e.g. for going to a web based email site besides hotmail. Whether that site by yahoo email, or something else. not talking about changing home page at all...

Have a look here:

Granted, the article is for earlier versions of IE...but the structure looks the same for 6.0 (on the machine I looked at). I believe what you want is almost to the bottom of the article, referecing registry edits to be made to accommodate other mail clients.
