I am coming up empty handed with how to change the LCD Screen's Labels for the User Defined Keys on a 1140E and an attached Expansion Module. I am able to change the keys easily enough, but I can't find a way to change the labels.

I have a BCM 450R1.

All the documentation that I have been able to find so far that explains how to change the labels do not seem to apply when connected to a BCM 450.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

On some of the external dial numbers, it's just a long set of numbers that are displayed. I'd like to customize it to say the person/company that I am dialing.

You have that opportunity when you first create the auto dial, punch the number in then it will ask you to put in the name.

All the guides (admin and users) are on the BCM itself.

Unfortunately, it doesn't ask for a name after programming the button. I've tried via the Element Manager, Desktop Assistant Pro, and manually through the phone itself.

I have accessed the manual from the BCM, it doesn't talk about renaming the buttons on its version of the manual.

You cannot rename, you need to re-program from scratch.
F*1, press button, enter number then it will ask for name.

Unless R1 did not have that perhaps.

I did try to reprogram from scratch too.

I am wondering if it just wasn't a feature in R1. I might try to find the latest firmware to manually upgrade the handset, see if that might make any difference.

No need, R6 config guide:

New features (where Nortar guides would say "Whats New")
The following list indicates the new features introduced with BCM 6.0.

• “Advanced Paging Productivity Pack text paging” on page 37
• “Find Me/Follow Me enhancements” on page 37
• “Meet Me Conference Portal” on page 39
• “BCM50 and BCM450 imaging tool” on page 40
• “Programming memory buttons with names for external autodial” on page 40
• “CLID enhancements” on page 40
• “Public SIP trunks for VoIP” on page 41
• “SIP trunking accounts” on page 41
• “Set template support for line pool assignment” on page 41
• “Remote Worker support” on page 41
• “Multi-image hard drive” on page 42

Are we connected on LinkedIN? names familiar.

Well, I guess that answers that question!

Time to get the marker out and write on the lcd.... (Kidding)

Thanks for the help.
