Is there a way to make it so that the caller id when calling from ext to ext can be changed to show a different number? Here's an example:

Client has a helpdesk main number. All calls are supposed to be received on main number. Techs call employees and the tech's ext number shows up and employees dial them back directly. All calls need to be returned through the helpdesk and first not to the tech. Can this be donw? How?

Helpdesk ext=1111
Tech ext=1234
Tech calls employee at ext 4567. Tech ext should appear to employee as 1111.

Thanks

not from ext to ext, can be done with external calls. maybe just get them to publicise the helpdesk number better, and allow the techs to shout at people who call the directly.

See what my brain does when it's not thinking about phones.

This is what you could do, create a button on the Tech ext1234 called "call FWD all" (emulation > call forwarding all)
Press the button and Forward it to 1111
Now when the Tech call it will still display the number/name af the Tech butt when some one calls the tech it will be forwarded to 1111, and 1111 is the only one who can call the Tech on 1234 even he can do a tranfer when it has a FWD to him.

Also on the "User" tick "Ex Directory" so it will not show up in the Direcotory Phonebook.

Pure theory and i never tried but i think it will work:

create a virtual user with number 11111 and set it on divert all to 1111, create a appearance button and enable the x-directory setting.
on the techsupport phone create a bridged appearance button for extension 11111 and they should use that to call employees.
These wil see 11111 and the name of extension 11111.
if they call back they go to the group as the four 1's is the first match when dialling a number. if they use the cal log to call back then extension 11111 is diverted to 1111.
