Is there any way in which I can get Outlook 2003 to notify me of any incoming e-mail message in the way that Outlook 98 used to do, i.e.

New e-mail has arrived.
do you want to open it now
Yes No

You could click on yes or no and that was that

Any ideas anyone?

I don't think the exact dialog box is available in Outlook 2003, but see if the following will do:

Tools > Options > E-mail Options > Advanced E-mail Options
click Desktop Alert Settings

Hi, you can get a notification window whenever a new mail arrives and the option to double click on it in order to open it.
to do so, you need to go to Tools||Rules & Alerts||New Rule and then you should create a new rule of Type "Display mail from someone in the new Item window. then you would uncheck all conditions.

I think that this might do the thing.

Thank you both Adnane and dcompto for your time and information. The one that seems to do the trick is Adnane's.

Thank you very much to both of you again
