Hi,

I have a PC that has five user accounts. Today, two of these accounts have started with a minimum of icons and the users name has been changed to 'username.HOME'. The original username is still under documents and settings. Can anyone tell my why this change has happened and how to correct it.

See if in System Properties, Computer Name, the workstation has been defined as being a member of a Domain.

The computer is part of a workgroup

I am certain it was originally set as part of a workgroup. But if someone changed a single setting in System properties what would happen at the next logon by any user is that their user profile would be automaticly assigned "username.HOME"

If it was a case of profile corruption and an auto-assigned profile, the new profile would have been "username.000"

Can I manually change the username profile to username.HOME and restore the old settings for the user.

Thanks for your help bcastner, all is well now.
