I am logged on as a user on a domain. I can not get into the control panel so I can't change my password through there. I also can't get to a run dialog box. I can get to a command prompt, so how can I change my password through there?

press control-alt-delete. Click change password.

Try doing Alt-Ctrl-Del window should apear, 1 of the buttons will say change password.

If i use the net user command will it work to change the password?

It says under my user properties (using net user) that i can change my password, but when I try to change it using net user * it tell me access denied.

what's wrong with Ctrl+Alt+Del? It works - unless you've had your user set so user (you) can't change password - in which case you need to talk to your system administrator to either change it for you or remove the restriction.
