I moved about 5000 records to a MS Access database and then used that to build my Crystal report. I did this so I have a better response time. The actual database is a SQL server with 4 million records in it and it is located in a different city. Now, my question is -- what is the best way to change my database after i build my report. My Access Database tables and fields are named the same as the SQL server.

Is this possible? if it is , what do I need to do

thanks for your help. . . I was worried that I may have to rebuild the report .

NOW

for some reason after I was done with my report and ready to point to the SQL server I am getting a ODBC error, what should I look for to fix this problem

thanks

thanks, I was able to figure out the problem, however, having a subreport seems to take a long time to process. If I suppress my subreport the report runs a lot faster. what can I do to improve performance with the subreport.

thanks

I would avoid subreports altogether if you are worried about performance. Why are you using a subreport? Are you sure that is the only way to get the data you want? Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

dgillz,

why do you say to avoid subreport all together, is this really a problem when it comes to performance?. Unfortunately, I don't see a way to bring in my group category totals. I am still trying to figure out how to get all my data in one report, but having not luck yet. Any suggestions on how to create my report

*** also, can you explain how does the report process when there is a subreport. What are the sequence of events and how does and how often does CR access the database?

thanks

The best way might be to write STORED procedure and then report on that Procedure.

Hi

I Created the report "rpt1" with the database "DB1" with username / password.

From the application i am calling the report "rpt1" by passing the database name "DB1" and User Name / Password. The report working fine.

Later if i call the another database name "DB2" in my application and call the same report "rpt1"(which is created using the databaes "DB1") then i got the error message "Logon Failed"....

What is the solution? Pls give me the solution
