If I make changes to the defult page in Ill CS4 where do I save it to? I can not find where the default pages are at in the version

...the defaults are stored in the "application support" folder > CS4 > en_GB (or your country equivalent) > New Document Profiles...

Andrew

Andreww,
Thanks for the advice but After making the change and restarting Illustrator, it still did not open the new file????

...so when you choose file > new, the pull down menu in that dialog, at the top is "new document profile"...

...if you saved your file in the correct folder it will be listed in there...

...are you saying you can't see your new document profile in that list?

Andrew

...essentially you need to open a new document window, make your own default swatches, brushes etc, then save it as a normal .ai file, place it in the "application support" folder > CS4 > en_GB (or your country equivalent) > New Document Profiles...

...then when you choose file > new it should be listed in there as an option...

Andrew

...if you search for "Basic CMYK.ai" you should find the correct location for default profiles...

Andrew

I will try that in a while.

Thanks a Bunch

Jimi

I will let you know what happens

...not the "default swatches" folder by the way...

andrew

...if your on leopard mac os x, you need to enable system files to be searched, by default leopard won't do this...

..you do that by adding extra criteria to the search options at the top of the find window...

andrew

...i believe it's called the same folder anyway, windows is:

app data > roaming >adobe > Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings > en_GB (or your country) > New Document Profiles...

Andrew

...the folder "appdata" is in your users directory...
