Change color on a vector object 1

When InDesign was first introduced and I attended a seminar, there was a way of changing the color on a vector object.

For instance, a logo could be used several times in a document and rather than having multiple .eps files being placed, you could change the color within InDesign. I cannot remember the steps involved; i.e., do you "place" the vector file, do you "drag and drop it" from an open illustrator document, --- anyone utilizing this feature that can shed light on it, would be greatly appreciated.

Also, does any use InDesign for annual reports? When utilizing tabs and needed to double-underscore various columns of figures, how do you get .5 rules underneath each of the columns without having rules crossing the white gutters?

The way that I colorize images within InDesign, requires that the image be a TIF. Select content and apply desired color from your swatch palette.

thanks Ruflan; however, that isn't exactly what I was trying to achieve -- but I did finally after exhaustive efforts, find the answer:

In ILLUSTRATOR,m open PREFERENCES, to to FILE HANDING & CLIPBOARD panel -- Turn on "AICD [no transparency support]" and click on the radio button - "PRESERVE PATHS". Now when Illustrator paths are copied to the clipboard and pasted into InDesign, they are editable and you can also change colors as well as the paths. -- ALSO WORKS IN REVERSE -- but the preferences must be changed first in Illustrator -- copy InDesign paths and frames & paste them into Illustrator and they are all editable as well.
