I'm new to frame and I was wondering if there was a way to change the background color of a document?

You can change the background color to text boxes (on either the master page or body pages) by selecting the text box, applying a solid fill (choose the solid black box from the fill selections in the expanded Graphics palette) and then choosing the Color of your choice for the Graphics palette. Define a custom color if you need one. A tint can also be defined here.

Selections like this are made easier by using the expanded Graphics palette (rather than the slimmer version of the palette or the Graphics menu).
