When you click on "My Computer or go into in folder" and click on any file or folder to select it. The colour changes to a very light blue to show that it's selected. This light blue does not agree with my eyes very good and I would like to change it. Is that possible. This is not the "selection" option in "windows color and appearance"
thanks for any help

No real answer, but have a look at these.

Darkening the selected file/option

how to change the highlight color in folders?

Turn off the Hover Highlight

Change/disable the transparency from the "selector"...

Ok, since I am using a non english version of VISTA, I'll try to get as close as I can with the description on how to change the background color of the SELECTED files etc...

1.) right click on the Desktop, choose the last choice that the popup window shows (ADJUST)

2.) on the second window that pops up, choose CHANGE WINDOWCOLOR...

3.) on the next window (Display Properties) choose the ADVANCED Tab...

4.) another window should pop up... there you will find a drop-down box called ELEMENT(S) (or similiar - DESKTOP should be highlighted): choose SELECTED ELEMENTS, then to the right from the other DROP-DOWN BOX choose the color which you would like the text to be highlighted with... ie. dark grey... and then hit OK, to close that window... Hit OK on the next window, and all your TEXT should now be highlighted in the chosen color...

Hope I was clear on the instructions, if not please do not hesitate to ask again...

Yes I have tried doing that but that does not change the selected icons color. But it does however change the selected Text color.
So, no this does not work for me.
I did a search on the internet and apparenlty I'm not the only one that has issues with that color. And apparently there is no way to solve this. The color can't be changed unless you change the theme to classic.

Oh, I thought you had meant the TEXT color...

sorry I was of no help...
