Looks like many of us are in the same boat, the IT person in charge leaves, and everything gets dropped on our laps. Because of my background with Avaya Definity PBX's, the boss felt that I was qualified to take over. So here it is. We have a Norstar Plus Modular ICS. It turns out that two trunks cards (NT7B7SGD) need to be replaced by two Call ID cards to enable CLID on only 5 telephones. My questions is, how do you associate the extension number to the line number? Doing "feature * 0 and Int" gave me the line number. Of the 5 telephones, the lowest line number is 080 and the highest number is 125. The stations have 4-digit extension numbers and one if them is 2221. Looking at the install and adming manuals does not details how to determine which trunk card or station card (ports) goes with what station. I am confused because the books mentions lines, and line ports ...what is the difference?
Also, what should I look for when replacing the loop start trunk cards with the call id cards? Does the KSU and/or the expansion modules need to be powered down? Will the system automatically recognize the new cards as call-id cards? I am still reading the manuals as the cost of going to school is a bit too much for my boss to bear. I would appreciate any help you can give. One last thing, I know we are not to solicit and that is not my intent, but do any of you guys live in the Houston area? I am not looking for vendors, just a fellow tekkie. Thanks.
