hey guys, this is really annoying and i have no idea how to fix it, if it even needs fixing. I am getting the following messages when windows XP is almost done setting up. it happens about three quarters of the time...

CFSServ
Create socket WSAENETDOWN: A socket operation encountered a dead network.

CFSServ
Listen Error

CFSServ
Recv Socket INIt connect Error

I have a toshiba satellite laptop with windows xp and mcafee security suite...(its all bought, none of it is pirated)

thanks...

Is there a Toshiba specific service or less likely McAfee service that begins with C the next work begins with F and is a service defined at startup?

It sounds like it is not starting, and very likely can be disabled.

Start, Run, Services.msc and see if you can find the service and set it to disabled for its startup desposition.

Or disable it with Autoruns:

yeah theres a program called ConfigFree that im pretty sure is the problem...but if it came with the computer, wouldn't that mean I'd kinda need it...

Disable it and see.
"Traditionally, client configuration of a Wi-Fi network has been a difficult manual process. Customers have been forced to make changes to their notebook or PDA networking configuration by hand, often resulting in an inoperable network connection. To ease the burden of customer network configuration, the Toshiba Mobile Office includes Configuration Free technology, which manages all necessary network information automatically."

My guess is you do not need it. Or live with the errors, as they should not keep the machine from booting. If you have installed Service Pack 2 this sort of raw socket use is no longer supported under XP.

oh...well i do have sp2 so what do you mean by raw socket? this programs not compatible with sp2? it came with a computer already with sp2 installed on it...
