have you installed SP1 for CF MX?
Was it a clean install of MX? (not an upgrade from a previous version!)

I have had a somewhat similar experience although wasn't sure if it had anything to do with the install of ColdFusion MX. If you are running MS ISA Server you might want to check the IP Packet filters that you have setup.
