Hi,
First off..Great Forum!
Im having problems with SMTP service. I am able to connect find in CFadmin mail section but my mail keeps being undeliverable with following error.
[PT_ERROR] General error (505 Client was not authenticated) - Sender =
(I removed sender for security reasons)
I am assuming that my ports should all be set at 25 in CFADMIN and IIS. Anything else that maybe causing this not to work? Thanks again.

Do you run the Mail Server, or is someone else running it? - tleish

You need access to the mail server you are connecting to.
Also you need a valid account on the system if you are sending mail.

I run the mail server through IIS 4.0. It says its on and I can connect through CFADMIN but i get that error in log. Any suggestions? All ports are at 25.

are u using firewall? if yes, try lower it and then test sending e-mail... Sylvano

I got the Mail to work but I had to set the security to annonymous in IIS section under SMTP. I would like to avoid this but that is the only way I get it to work. Any suggestions.
Thanks

we have had a similar problem and had to set it to annonymous then we got some punk bouncing emails off us for ages. to stop this we added the IP addresses of all of the machines to a list of machines that were allowed to use the mail server, this stopped the punks and allowed CFMAIL to work correctly !

I would do that but I have over 100 ip's. :(
Anyone no of another solution?
