centrino vs. p4

Hello,

Is centrino better than p4 for a laptop? We're looking at a centrino 1.6 GHz and a p4 2.5 GHz, and would like to pick the better one but can't find enough info. One thing we know is that the laptop with the centrino 1.6 GHz can have up to 2 GB of RAM while the 2.5 GHz laptop can have only up to 1 GB. Where can we find out more about the technical information to compare them? Thank you very much.

my question would be.. why does a laptop need 2 GB of RAM?
I think 512MB is about maxing out anything you can do on a laptop... short of digital video editing or high speed gaming..

do a search on intel centrino vs p4 on google, you should get a few hits, and those hits are usually good sites that will have more info on each.

If you are planning to use the laptop a lot on batteries then the Centrino is a better bet - they are supposed to last up to twice as long on one charge as the P4-M.

Depends on how u use your notebook.
Desktop replacement should go for P4M
Want ultra-portable then Centrino

But one draw back - Centrino u will be stuck with a old wireless lan chipset. And Pentium-M u get to choose the wireless chip =)
