Does anyone know how to setup a Legend system to run with Centrex. I can't figure out how to get them outside dial tone to place a call. Tried Key mode, Behind Switch and Hybrid/PBX with no luck - whether you dial 9 - 9,9 etc. Nothing seems to break dial tone.

Centrex is just loop or ground start lines, that usually require that you dial a 9 before the number, and the last 4 digits of lines in your block to call from line to line. If the telco is flexible, they can "assume" the 9 and use a # in front of line to line dialing.

First, clip on at MPOE and see what you have to dial to complete calls. Then run in Hybrid/PBX mode, and add the additional digits to the ARS routes. Should be a piece of cake!

You could also test by giving yourself pool dial out access to the pool with the Centrex lines, again to see what you need to add to get out.

TTT - thanks for responding. Here's the issue. Right now system is in Hybrid/PBX. For test purposes - only one line connected. If you put a Butt set on the line, dial 9 - you break dialtone and can place an outside call. When the line is connected to the PBX - if you press the line 801 button, press 9 - and start dialing - you get a fast busy after dialing a few digits. If you touch an intercom button - you get a loud squeal. Seems to be the same in Key or Behind Switch mode. I am starting to assume I have a "bad" processor.

I'd go along with that guess! Default the processor, set it up with just one trunk/station card, if it still misbehaves, try another trunk/station card, etc.

Tom,

You and spoke earlier this evening and were going to try the ground-start thing. Ground-start and Centrex were mutually exclusive at one time and most likely NOT in play here, since we are supplanting a house with nothing but 2500 sets (and no PBX).

Even so, I'd still like to know if this change affected anything. It's one explanation as to why you are able to receive, but not place phone calls.

I'll be up for about another hour...

Tim: I did experimant with changing the trunk-type to "ground start" - but then only received silence - no dial tone at all.

Go to the default toll table 25 and default local table 26
in the ARS section and you'll see where you can put a 9 in
the absorb table....this should ease you pain.

Well - I never found the "original" problem. All of the modules and phones ended up testing OK - in a step-by-step troubleshooting process. It may have been a poorly installed module. The customer wants the system to work exactly as it did with all single line phones - so I will need to put this in KEY mode and only give each extention - its single individual Centrex line - and the Operator's - only their 4 Centrex lines - and use Centrex as the "real" PBX. Not sure what problems this will cause - or if I would be better off in Behind Switch mode - and reprogram the Transfer, Conference and Hold keys with Centrex dial strings.

once you put it in behind switch mode it uses the transfer button for transferring between centrex sta. if you want to call a magix station you need to dial it from intercom to intercom only

cvrbob: If I leave it in key mode - and a particular user's phone rings - and isn't answered - I assume Centrex will pick-up the call and transfer it to one of the 4 Operator Centrex lines automatically. (This is how it worked with their single-line phones before)

If the operator then gets the call - will she be able it to transfer it to any other extention - normally??

I had understood, that if I put it in behind switch mode - I needed to specifically reprogram the Transfer, Hold and Conference buttons with the Centrex codes - so that they would work the same as on a single-line phone - or is that done automatically??

They just want to use Centrex temporarily as their PBX - exactly as with their single-line phones (they are getting T1/PRI service in a month). They do not need to Transfer normally - just use the Centrex Transfer function.

the one i did , use the transfer for the centrex , did not have to program , anything, call would come in on line & transfer out on line, no ans went to console station, used 4 digit dialing,
if i wanted to dial say mary in house , could use centerx line to call her centrex line ,or go to intercom & call sta. or call came in use transfer to mary, (centrex ) , but not to her station As i said i did not have to do any more programing for Centrex , It was Verizon
